Can you sell something on Reddit?
Main Post:
My account is really used to interact with school stuff but now that I’m using it more frequently (esp for product recommendations), I’ve been seeing people who sell items. Is this allowed?

I tried Reddit ads and got a sale. Now I want to transition to another platform like Google ads. How do I transition?
Main Post:
I have a digital product that I'm launching and have been using Reddit ads to try to get users/buyers. So far my Reddit ads seem to be performing well and I am getting modest conversions (sales).
I target one specific subreddit (and let reddit ads expand if needed).
My stats are:
- 1.5% CTR
- $0.40 CPC
- ~1% conversion after click (i.e. after they click on the ad, I get 1% conversion rate from my page)
I have gotten sales (conversions) with just Reddit ads, but I've been doing a lot of reading that Reddit has fake clicks and bots and it's unwise to trust Reddit ads' metrics.
Understanding that, what are good alternatives to Reddit ads? I don't mind using, for example, Google ads to promote, but I wouldn't know which keywords to target or how to run the campaign in general. I know which subreddit(s) seems to be a good fit for my product, but I don't know how to express that in terms of Google ads stuff like keywords, etc.
- Do you recommend Google ads?
- What other platforms should I consider besides Google?
- How should I run my Google ads campaign?
- How should I run my campaign to be analogous to targeting the subreddit I like.
I have limited, but not completely beginner, knowledge of digital marketing
Top Comment: Do you recommend Google ads? Yes, you're on r/PPC , why wouldn't we? haha. The problem is that you'll be bottlenecked by a few things when you start: budget (duh) time knowledge And knowledge is time, and time is money - money you can use to hire someone to help you out, naturally, but that can get fairly expensive (some of the peeps in this post are offering work for $2k/mo and it's not uncommon at all; there'll always be cheaper, there'll also be much more expensive too). However, as I like to put it, PPC is a money printing machine once you get the right formula, and it prints money until it doesn't, so it pays for itself (hopefully). What other platforms should I consider besides Google? Until you tell us more about your niche, no one can answer you. It could be a SaaS for anything so... yeah. Some SaaS do very well on TikTok for example. How should I run my Google ads campaign? Same as above - but basic things should be covered: conversion tracking tight and clean targeting (location, keywords, etc.) turn off display & search partners (no benefit at a low budget) auto-apply recommendations turned off conversion tracking Did I say conversion tracking? How should I run my campaign to be analogous to targeting the subreddit I like. You.................. ... probably can't. It's too much thinking for the budget you have, assuming you don't have much anyway since you've just started. If you're thinking of a comprehensive marketing strategy that covers more than one channel, boy, do I have bad news for you. For now, I'd advise you to stick to reddit ads if it works well for you. Yes, reddit has fake click and bot traffic, but most other platforms do, and reddit is cheap and underrated for the US market. If you're converting on it, it doesn't matter if you have 50% bot clicks if you have 50% genuine traffic. It just means the CPC is twice as high as reported, that's part of the game. People freak out way too much about bot traffic. When you feel the river's running dry on reddit, you hopefully made enough money to consider investing somewhere else. Let us know how it goes!
I Finally Got My First Sale! What Should I Do Next?
Main Post:
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I just got my first sale! I was so close to shutting everything down because it felt like nothing was working. To all of you who encouraged me, gave feedback, or just took the time to visit my page, thank you so much!
Now that I’ve finally made my first sale, I’d love to know - what should I focus on next? Whether it’s marketing tips, product ideas, or even advice on managing a small brand, I’m all ears!! :)

Top Comment: Please delete the popup with the 10% discount... you must always think « would I leave my email address? ” Your site has barely finished loading that would let popup appear. I don’t know what you sell, nor the experience you offer and you offer me a 10% discount in exchange for my email? No. Normal reaction of a user -> he leaves the page. You must propose the popup at a more interesting time for the customer.
How do you get into sales?
Main Post:
I'm a tech guy thinking of switching to sales. How did you guys get into sales? I noticed there isn't a clear pathway where you go to college, study sales and get into the role. I would love to know everyone's journey
Top Comment: Go get jobs at crappy places that sell products that nobody wants and needs, this will show you cold hard selling and rebuttals. Unfortunately, these places lie a lot. Next, get a job at a mediocre place, learn more and let people help/train you. Lastly, get a job that suits you and your skills etc. I've been broke poor and sold crap to people. I never lied. I never cheated. I never scammed. I hope I never have to sell crap again. I've been very well-off from sales gigs, selling decent products, this is my preferred way. Selling crap sure did help when it was time to sell decent stuff! I'm glad to help in DMs.
